Instructions for working with striking tools
• Safety goggles must be worn for all types of work with striking tools. Depending on the application, working
gloves or other protective gear may also be required.
• When trying to loosen a pin punch that is stuck do not hit it on the side with a hammer as it may break.
• Impact shocks, i.e., blows to hardened parts with hardness values above 40 HRC, are to be avoided.
• Centre punches with tungsten carbide tips must be held upright when striking them. If it is at an angle, the
tip could££be overstressed by the shear forces created and break off. The same applies if the tool is dropped
inadvertently.
• Blunt centre punches and chisels can be sharpened many times. When sharpening them, please ensure that
they do not heat up to over 200 ºC, as the hardness will be reduced.
• Don’t use any hammers that cause burr (mushrooming). Replace any worn spare parts (such as inserts, ham -
mer shafts) by original spare parts only.

• En todos los trabajos con herramientas de percusión se deben llegar gafas protectoras. En función de la
aplicación, también puede ser necesario llevar guantes protectores u otros dispositivos de protección.
• Al tratar de soltar punzones agarrotados no debe golpear con un martillo lateralmente en la herramienta ya
que existe peligro de rotura.
• Deben evitarse los golpes en vivo, es decir, golpes sobre piezas endurecidas con valores de dureza supe -
riores a 40 HRC.
• Los punteadores con puntas de metal duro deben sujetarse verticalmente al golpear. En caso de un ángulo
oblicuo del golpe, la punta será expuesta a fuerzas de empuje excesivas, pudiendo desviarse y romperse
hacia el costado. Esto vale también si la herramienta se deja caer por descuido.
• Los punteadores y cinceles desgastados pueden reafilarse varias veces. Al afilar, debe prestar atención a que
las herramientas no se calienten a más de 200 °C, ya que sino disminuye su dureza.
• Nunca utilize martelos causando daños. Pezas de recambio usadas (por ejemplo insertables, mangos de
martillos) deben ser cambiadas por pezas originales exclusivamente.
